*CHARTON (Édouard). The Tour of the World. New travel journal. Paris, London, Leipzig: Librairie de L. Hachette et Cie, 1860-1894. - 68 volumes in-4, publisher's red percaline. Complete collection of the first series of this famous weekly published under the direction of Edouard Charton. This first series appeared from January 1860 to December 1894. The second one, started in January 1895, will be published until 1914; its title will be "Le Tour du monde, journal des voyages et des voyageurs". The whole is illustrated with numerous engravings in the text and on full page as well as several maps and plans. Among the artists are Grandsire, Français, Daubigny, Janet-Lange, Riou and Gustave Doré. A very nice copy in the publisher's hardback. Spine slightly faded, defects to some headpieces. Damage to the spine of the second semester volume of 1873. Scattered foxing. - Joined the first two volumes of the new series (1895), in the publisher's percaline, and the two volumes of the year 1908 in modern garnet half-chagrin. These two volumes are enriched with the 52 issues of 1908 of the newspaper "A travers le monde". ATTENTION: this lot is subject to 5.5% additional charges for temporary import tax.
