BRYEN (Camille )The Adventure of objects.... - Lot 113 - Ader
BRYEN (Camille )The Adventure of objects. Foreword by J.-H. Levesque. Paris : José Corti, collection Orbes, 1937. - Booklet in-8, stapled. First edition printed at 300 copies. The text of the artist and poet Camille Bryen (1907-1977) is the exact reproduction of the conference he gave at the Sorbonne to the group of psychological studies on Monday May 3, 1937. His words were illustrated by the projection of photographs of his works, taken by Raoul Ubac, under the pseudonym of Raoul Michelet. For Bryen, the text had for goal to give "a way of report on the processes which (has) led him to invent then to execute objects", to give "some clarifications on one of their possible meanings" and to try "to explain (his) position with regard to poetic problems". "These objects (...), after those of Marcel Duchamp, are the first ones where mechanics plays a role and which (...) seem to be counted among those which will have contributed most effectively to the creation of what Paul Éluard and André Breton have called the "physics of poetry"" (foreword by Levesque). A very well preserved copy.
