Ferdinand BAC (1859-1952). L.A.S., Les Colombières (Menton) February 28, 1931; 2 1/2 pages large in-8 with engraved vignette "VII Calypso" at the head. About a retrospective on the sculptor Carpeaux: "I have just read your remarkable preface for Ingres and I must congratulate you without delay on this piece. You have masterly and universal understandings. Your art of penetrating art and artists is as extensive as that of penetrating political history. And this makes my delight. I think that you will want to enhance with your presence the inauguration of the Exhibition Carpeaux and Second Empire. You will find there some beautiful portraits coming from my father's collection (I do not speak of the qq. sketches made by me at the Empress and that I add as a Finale to this series, contemporary to the Empire. Besides, all these drawings are engraved and will appear in my volumes on "Intimacies". The other day I saw L. Bernstamm who told me that Baron Vitta had visited him and that he had promised a decision about your bust. But he hasn't heard anything more about it. If you would like to fix him on your intentions, I think he will be reassured about what to do about the Chéret Museum where he intends to see it, if you agree...
