Charles LECOCQ. L.A.S., October 4, 1908,... - Lot 78 - Ader
Charles LECOCQ. L.A.S., October 4, 1908, to a librettist; 3 pages in-12. He explains his refusal of a libretto on Télémaque. "It is better to entrust this poem to a young person. The modern school is teeming with young composers of great talent for whom Télémaque would be a good opportunity. Then you do not ignore that I had in the Operetta genre too many successes for my name to be a guarantee of success in a work of great scale. It must be said, I wear on my back a label that is impossible to disavow"... A L.A.S. from Alfred Bruneau is attached, 18 Oct. 1897, also refusing the libretto.
