Léon BLOY. Proof with autograph corrections and additions, On demande des Prêtres, [1882-1905]; 6 pages small in-fol. bound in a beige half-paperback volume. Heavily edited reprint of an article for Belluaires et Porchers. Bloy has pasted on large pages a cut-out article published on March 5, 1882 in Le Foyer illustré under the title "M. Charles Buet et son dernier livre Scènes de la vie cléricale". He added the autograph title "On demande des Prêtres" (Priests are needed), crossed out numerous passages, of which he wrote a new version in the margins; he also deleted two important passages, including the 4 paragraphs of the conclusion, replaced by this sentence: "It is therefore infinitely honorable for Christians such as M. Charles Buet, to exhort to the sublime virtues those who are charged with leading all nations to the meadows of heaven & who forget absolutely nothing if not to be living effigies of the divine Shepherd...". And he adds at the bottom of the last page: "I wrote this about ten years ago, almost at the beginning of my literary life, which began so late, and I obviously had a softer hand than today. This new version served as an epilogue to Belluaires et Porchers (1905). A long letter from Joseph Bollery (1951), about this article, and giving bibliographical indications, has been bound at the top.
