Jean-Baptiste CHARCOT (1867-1936) physician... - Lot 230 - Ader
Jean-Baptiste CHARCOT (1867-1936) physician and polar explorer. L.A.S., Lorient aboard the "Meg" August 10, 1917, to a president; 2 pages in-4. "After a very long cruise the "Meg" returns to Lorient where I find [...] the parcel that you so kindly and generously sent to my crew. He thanked him: "I cannot tell you the pleasure my men feel in receiving these gifts and perhaps especially in feeling that there are people on land in France who are thinking of them. This contributes to keeping them in good spirits, to raising their morale and to maintaining the enthusiasm that is so necessary to obtain success"... Attached is a L.A.S. from his wife Meg Charcot, August 7, 1908, to Émile d'Arnaville, before her husband's departure from Le Havre on the yacht Pourquoi-Pas.
