SAINT-PETERSBOURG 1768 Silver bell cover, oval-shaped model with contours. The base is prolonged by a double tubular row, delimiting a fall of gadroons and channels, alternated with an engraving of falls of partially amatized flowers. The terrace of rocaille spirit delimited by a bottom amati is summed up of a fruit leaving its protection of leaves. Master goldsmith : Johann Friedrich KOPPING. Weight : 1632 g - length : 29,5 cm - width : 22,8 cm Bears the inventory number 862 twice, engraved and stamped in English. Marks : two striches, weevil Assayer : IVAN FROLOV from 1738 to 1779 Considered as the best Russian silversmith of his time, Johann Friedrich KOPPING was charged by the Empress Elisabeth II of Russia to complete the service of Paris by being inspired by the creations of François Thomas GERMAIN.
