RENNES 1725 - 1726 Pair of silver saltcellars. Rare French model reminiscent of the salt cellars of Liege called "diabolo". They rest on a hexagonal base with cut sides in recall on the upper edge, embossed with oves and interlacing on a background amati. The upper part on the staves is engraved with the coat of arms of the young daughter of René-Caroline-Victoire de Froulay (1714 - 1803), married in 1737 to the marquis of Créquy (1686 - 1741). She held salons in Paris throughout the 18th century. Master goldsmith : Jacques-Eloy PIGEON, received in 1725 Stamped twice of the master goldsmith in the bottom and the base, discharge between 1722 and 1726. Condition : two small holes in the two upper corners of a saltcellar. Weight : 219 g - height : 6,5 cm - length : 8 cm - width : 6,5 cm
