TEMESVARI (Pelbárt). Aureum Rosariu(m) Theologie ad Sente(n)tiar(um) quattuor libros pariformiter Quadripertitu(m). Haguenau : Johann Rynmann, Henri Gran, November 8, 1503 - May 15, 1504. - 2 parts (of 4) in one volume in-folio, 282 x 205: (168 ff. last blank); (250 ff.). [sig. a-e8 f6 g-n8 o6 p-q8 r6 s-t8 v6 x-y8; a-d8 e6 f-n8 o6 p-q8 r6 s-t8 v6 x-y8 z6 A-B8 C6 D-E8 F6 G-K8]. White basane on wooden boards, framed with cold fillets and cold scroll patterns on the boards, spine ribbed, brass and leather clasps, bookmarks protruding from the gutter (period binding). Uncommon first edition of the first two volumes of the four that make up this important work by the Franciscan father and preacher Pelbárt Temesvári (1435?-1504). Only the first volume was published during the author's lifetime; the others were published on May 14, 1504, August 2, 1507, and December 2, 1508, respectively. Temesvári was a well-known figure among the writers of the time . He published several works, including this one, which is a theological encyclopedia, including discourses on the psalms. The printing of these first two volumes was done by the Haguenovian printer Henri Gran (1489-1523/24). The text is in Gothic script, printed in two columns of fifty-eight lines. It is very rare to find a complete copy of its four parts. Most of those found in public libraries are incomplete. A choice copy, preserved in its contemporary binding, entirely rubricated in red and blue, some of the lettering includes a watermarked decoration. The gutter has retained some of the original bookmarks. On the first cover one can see the location of the label that was used at the time to identify the book. There are still the four spikes that certainly held the mica that covered the label. Clasps, spine and hinges fully restored. The two metal parts of the clasps are not identical. A few rare worm holes without gravity.
