Hidden images.
Paris : La Roseraie, 1928. - In-4, 265 x 202 : frontispiece, (6 ff. first three blanks), 103 pp, (4 ff. last three blanks), 12 plates, printed cover. In sheets, filled cover, publisher's folder and slipcase.

Rare first edition, printed at only 145 copies, illustrated with fourteen original lithographs by Luc-Albert MOREAU (1882-1948), including a frontispiece, a title vignette and twelve off-texts.

COPY N° 1, THE ONLY ONE PRINTED ON JAPON BLANC NACRÉ À LA FORME.

It is enriched with the following items:
- a complete autograph manuscript of the novel, 130 pages and a half in-8, in sheets, with numerous corrections,
- a portrait of the author lithographed by Luc-Albert Moreau, proof on japanese paper numbered 2/10 and signed by the artist,
- an original portrait signed by Pierre Gandon (1899-1990), realized in graphite and representing a profile portrait of Carco

.

It was made for the edition of the Supplément aux dialogues des courtisanes de Lucien, a work composed by Francis Carco and published that same year 1928,
- a proof on japon nacré of the title vignette,
- four suites of states of the hors-texts on japon nacré,
- one plate refused on thin wove paper

.

Talvart and Place (II, p. 310) mention only the autograph manuscript as an enrichment while Carteret (IV, p. 90) also describes the suites but not the portraits nor the refused plate. On the other hand, he mistakenly indicates that there are the original drawings, which is not the case and the latter were obviously never included. These bibliographers never seem to have had this copy.

A very well preserved copy despite the faded spine of the folder.
