RADIGUET (Raymond).
The Ball of the Count of Orgel.
Paris : Bernard Grasset, 1924. - In-12, 188 x 119 : (120 ff. last two blank), printed cover. Paperback, modern hardback folder and slipcase.

VERY RARE ORIGINAL EDITION, known as "des bonnes feuilles", of Raymond Radiguet's second novel.

This is one of the twenty proof copies, justified as follows on the cover: "Proofs of the novel by Raymond Radiguet... In the exact state left by the author and before any corrections, even typographical. Twenty numbered copies have been printed from these good sheets". The

publisher received the manuscript in October 1923 and, judging it sufficiently completed, had proofs made at the end of that month

.

When Radiguet died suddenly on December 12, 1923, Grasset decided to print twenty copies of these proofs, which he intended exclusively for the author's closest friends.

These proofs are very precious because they give the first state of the book, i.e. before the numerous corrections made by Cocteau, Lacretelle, Behaine, Kessel and Grasset.

Spine and a small part of the first cover faded. The first few leaves include a few lines and crosses of readings in pencil.
