Peacock pendant, Ottoman Empire, probably 19th century In 18K (750 / 1000) gold set with precious stones. A central rosette of diamonds surrounded by emerald foliage and embraced on either side by a graceful peacock figure with an emerald body and a ruby eye. Pendant topped with a pearl and embellished with a triangular pendant of diamonds and emeralds supporting a ruby pendant. Gold suspension ring on the neck of each bird. Height: 10.1 cm; max. length: 5 cm; gross weight: 43 g The iconography of the peacock with a ruby eye on an Ottoman jewel with the same stone setting is found in the center of a tiara kept at the Sadberk Hanim Müzesi in Istanbul (SHM 14076-Z.509).
