Portrait of Emperor Aurangzeb, Mughal India, 18th century Pigments and gold on paper depicting Aurangzeb standing on a green water background on a lawn planted with flowers, under a colorful sky. He is facing left, wearing a rich gold turban with an egret, his face covered with a thin gold circle, and is dressed in an orange jama with golden flowers and a floral belt. He holds a gold-plated sarpush in his right hand and is armed with a talwar on which his left hand rests and a khanjar tucked into his belt. Painting mounted on album page with double border of colored paper with golden floral decoration and beige margin speckled with gold. On the back, seal of Mirza Asaf ud-Daula in black ink giving the date of 1182 H / 1768. Total size : 40 x 32,3 cm ; painting size : 19,6 x 11,7 cm Some stains, folds and slight accidents. This portrait, by the posture of the Emperor, his dress and the jewels he wears, evokes a page of an album kept at the Royal Collection Trust under the inventory number RCIN 1005068.
