Two Assili wedding jugs, Tunisia, Tunis, Qallaline, mid-19th and early 20th century Jugs with an ovoid body on a small circular pedestal, topped by a wide cylindrical neck with a flared lip and flanked by three curved handles with a pinched base on one. Earthenware with painted decoration of a frieze of colored spindles on the top of the body, a frieze babbouch and colored lines on the neck and horizontal stripes on the handles. Green glazed interior. Height : 23,5 cm and 31,5 cm Chips, fels and probably trimmed lips on the first, chips on the neck and small chips on the second. The assili or ajeddou wedding jug, recognizable by its three handles, was intended to preserve perfumed essences. Offered on the occasion of a wedding, it was hung according to the ritual in the bridal room.
