Vase of form antiquisante of style "jmal", Tunisia, Nabeul, House Tissier, about 1905
Enamelled ceramic with a globular body on a high pedestal with a ring, topped by a neck strangled by a ring then flared and bordered by straight lips. On either side of the neck, two scroll handles. Painted decoration of several colored vertical bands, in squares or with cartridge decorations, two inscribed in Arabic "Nabeul" on the neck. On the high part of the belly, frieze of dromedaries. Under the pedestal, stamp in Arabic of the house Tissier "Tissier Nabeul".

The style "jmal" / "dromedaries" was initiated by Elise Tissier who takes as a source of inspiration the stylized dromedaries frequently represented on the carpets made by women in southern Tunisia. This style of ceramics was particularly fashionable in the first half of the 20th century.
