[Abbé Bonneval, priest of Ménetou Ratel, a village in the Sancerre region near La Borne, was interested in the creations of Jean and Jacqueline Lerat. He became their friend and ordered two crosses for the crossroads overlooking the vineyards. Anxious to involve his parishioners in his approach, he commissioned Jean to create a model of a Virgin and Child for a Marian year in the 1960s that could be hung at the entrance to their home. The approach was very successful, this being one of the first examples]. F.L.
