Henri Joseph HARPIGNIES (1819-1916) - Lot 3
Henri Joseph HARPIGNIES (1819-1916) Lively Loire bank and view of Nevers, Saint-Cyr-et-Sainte-Julitte Cathedral, 1861 Oil on canvas. Signed and dated lower left. (Restorations and wear). 30 x 45 cm We thank Jean-Pierre Cappoen for the information he gave us. Harpignies represents on several occasions views of Nevers. In 1861, he exhibited at the Salon an oil painting called An Evening on the Banks of the Loire, which shows a view of Nevers a little further away than ours with the bridge and the cathedral of Saint-Cyr-et-Sainte-Julitte at sunset. This painting is kept in England at the Birmingham Art Gallery.
