[HENRI DE ROTHSCHILD - DOCTOR] ROTHSCHILD (Mathilde de). The White Wings on the Red Cross. Preface to the Cavalier Bleu. Paris : Calmann Lévy, [1925]. - In-16, paperback. Rare first edition, prefaced by Pierre Plessis under the pseudonym of the Cavalier Bleu. The Baroness de Rothschild recounts her experience at the front and at the hospital of Compiègne during the First World War. Thanks to her dedication, she received the war cross. This copy is enriched with a double autograph letter signed by the author and the prefacer, addressed to Louis Chatain, "hero of the war". Mottling and tears on the back cover. A copy of the second edition of the same text is enclosed, enriched with a small old photograph representing seven nurses, on the back of which is written in red pen: "souvenir de Rothschild". There is this note on the false title: "If there are bitter days, there are some so sweet". Some stains and soiling to the cover.
