[HENRI DE ROTHSCHILD - COLLECTOR] FROMENT-MEURICE - PIERRE QUEILLE CIRCA 1838 - 1846 Set of five forks, six spoons and seven table knives in silver. The blades of the knives, of round shape, in chromed steel are marked FROMENT-MEURICE in all letters. Model engraved on one side with the interlaced letters of Alphonse de Rothschild and on the other side with the family coat of arms. Hallmark minerve Goldsmith : Pierre François QUEILLE, subcontractor of the house FROMENT-MEURICE for cutlery. Mark: an antique oar from 1834, crossed out in 1846 (death) Provenance: Baron Henri de Rothschild collection, received by descent. At the time of the death of Froment-Meurice in 1855, in an article by Jules Janin, mention was made of the "practices" of the goldsmith. It mentions the name of Rothschild and "a pair of candelabra worthy of lighting the castle of Choisy". Net weight : 1 200 g - gross weight of the knives : 563 g
