Auguste-Gaspard-Louis BOUCHER-DESNOYERS (Paris, 1779 - 1857) Anne-Adrienne Lévêque, wife of Louis-Antoine Lavallée Black pencil, blur and white gouache highlights slightly oxidized. Signed lower right on the mount: "Aug. Desnoyers". 18.5 cm in diameter on a rectangular sheet of 22 x 19 cm Louis-Antoine Lavallée was secretary general of the Musée Central des Arts et Napoléon (1797-1816) and temporarily its director after the resignation of Vivant Denon, before being obliged to leave this position due to the appointment of Count Louis de Forbin in 1816. He was called Athanase Lavallée after the beginning of the Revolution because his two first names recalled those of the king and the queen.
