Giovanni Dominico TIEPOLO (Venice, 1727 - 1804) Centaur and hunting dogs Pen and brown ink, brown wash on black pencil lines. Signed at the bottom center: "Dom°. Tiepolo f.". (Freckles, iron ink). 19,1 x 27,3 cm Provenance: Former collection of Princess Mary Jane Galitsyna, née Cleveland Van Rensimer (Riegelsville [USA], 1888-Rueil-Malmaison, 1935); her sale, Paris, Hôtel Drouot, June 18-19, 1936, part of no. 9. Son of Giambattista Tiepolo and Cecilia Guardi, Giandomenico worked most of his life with his father. His painted, drawn and engraved work proves a true artistic personality that earned him the admiration of Venetian and foreign amateurs. Between 1761 and 1791, on his return from Wurzburg, he executed a large number of drawings on the theme of centaurs and satyrs.
