Ferrière. 25,9 x 33,7 cm Provenance: - Jean-Charles Töpffer (1832-1905), sculptor, medalist, Paris, Geneva. - Purchased from his heirs by Doctor Frédéric-Auguste Ferrière (1848-1924), Geneva. - His son, Charles Ferrière (1888-1979), entomologist, Geneva. - Koller sale, Zurich, 29 March 2019, no. 3086. Our painting takes the composition of one of the bas-reliefs of the set Les quatre saisons attributed to Louis-Félix de La Rue sold in Paris (Hôtel Drouot, June 6, 2018, Me Thierry de Maigret, n° 54). Model frequently circulating in the workshops, we know of a recovery by Anne Vallayer-Coster past sale in Paris (Hôtel Drouot, Mes Audap-Solanet, Godeau-Veillet, June 16, 1995, No. 47). There are several photographs of Jean-Charles Töpffer's workshop on which our painting is visible.
