André CAPLET (1878-1925). L.A.S., July 19, 1916, to Henri Woollett; 7 pages in-8. He is in the trenches, but in a rather quiet sector. He is surprised that Woolett is only now reading Debussy's Sonata for Cello and Piano, which he played before General Mangin at Lamoureux with the young cellist Maurice Maréchal: I am sure that Debussy did not try to make it a nationalist demonstration," at a time when there is talk of "never playing German composers again.
