Léon PAILLET (†1854). 3 L.A.S. with drawings, November 1853 and n.d., to Léon Escudier and Jules de Saint-Georges; 3 pages in-8. Amusing illustrated letters from this witty journalist. November 23, 1853, to Léon Escudier: he asks on his knees for two seats in a comic opera and draws himself (pen and red pencil) imploring him on his stomach and letting out an enormous fart, as well as at the bottom of the letter a dog licking boots; and on November 26, he thanks and draws himself playing the clarinet serenading his friend. - He thought that Saint Georges would send him two tickets for the Queen of Cyprus (Fromental Halévy, 1841), "but it seems that I am only good for making insertions at most. I am so indignant with you that if I were better I would beat you up": watercolor drawing of two men fighting, their sleeves rolled up.
