Marie BONAPARTE (1882-1962) descendant of Lucien Bonaparte; princess of Greece, translator of Freud and introducer of psychoanalysis in France. Autograph notes in Adolf Hitler, Mein Kampf (176-177th edition, München 1936); in-8, publisher's hardback (wetness on 1st ff.) A note at the head indicates that Marie Bonaparte bought this book when she went to pick up Freud in Vienna in 1938. She made numerous notes in pencil in the margins, probably later ("France 1940", p. 328); mainly concerning anti-Semitism. We will quote some of them: "Aryan; greater social sense", "Sacrifice of work, happiness, life"; "Knowledge is also an ideal in itself"; "Mysticism of organization. The Aryan is a born idealist. The Jew - he lacks the idealism of the Aryan"; "What about the Temple in Jerusalem? What about Rachel? And Sarah?"; "The manual labor valued by the German Hans Sachs etc."; "It is not the same Jew who is a banker or a Marxist! [...] Hitler's hatred of Marxism!"; "idea of the Germanization of the 'inferior' Poles"; "The sacred egoism of a people called a race, that is the fundamental dogma of the N.S."... On the three endpapers she has drawn up a table of the passages that struck her, with the page and a brief thematic summary, particularly concerning the Jews.
