Altarice Sébastiani, duchess of CHOISEUL-PRASLIN (1807-1847) daughter of marshal Sébastiani, she died assassinated by her husband, the duke of Choiseul-Praslin. Autograph manuscript signed, Extraits de littérature, 1822; small notebook in-4 of about 215 pages, hardback black basane (label of the paper maker Lejard). Rare early manuscript. Notes on "the eloquence of the pulpit", notably on Bossuet; then on La Fontaine, Molière, Regnard, etc. Drafts of compositions. Numerous erasures and corrections. Attached is a L.A.S. "Sébastiani-Praslin", September 19 [1832], to a duchess; 2 pages in-8, address (name of the addressee cut out), black wax seal with arms. She announces, on behalf of her father, the appointment of her correspondent's brother to the position of third secretary of embassy in Vienna. She is happy to be agreeable to him, "especially after what you told me the last time I had the pleasure to meet you. Alas, I did not foresee that day that the misfortune which has happened to me since, threatened me! "...
