Désirée CLARY (1777-1860) wife of Bernadotte,... - Lot 282 - Ader
Désirée CLARY (1777-1860) wife of Bernadotte, Queen of Sweden. L.A.S. (partly autograph), Rennes 5 thermidor VIII (24 July 1800), to her brother Nicolas Clary; 4 pages in-4. Beautiful family letter, the beginning of which (one and a half pages) is dictated to a secretary: there is talk of business, property, farm income, etc. She then takes the pen to evoke her trip with Bernadotte in Brittany: "the greatest pleasure I had in this trip was to eat fresh sardines". She talks about her son: "I beg you to scold Oscar for me for his naughty ways, he must make you impatient by making too much fuss. I beg you to kiss him a thousand times for me, he will not want to see me when I return, it may be a long time before he can know me"... With Bernadotte, she thanks him for taking care of their business, and she kisses the whole family.
