In-12 (17,5 x 13 cm). 1 frontispiece, (42) pp. 7 lithographed plates in color : publisher's cream paper boards lithographed in color and gold, title surrounded by children and letters, ornate frame and central geometrical pattern on the second board, title on the spine. Delicate alphabet book decorated with eight colored lithographs featuring children in their games. Each scene dedicated to three letters of the alphabet, inscribed at the top, and captioned with a small sentence describing the scene and using these letters. A, B, C, Have fun and be good friends. Different alphabets precede progressive exercises and short readings on animals, decorated with woodcuts, in the form of alphabets, signed by Jean Théophile Gustave Lesestre (1815-1873). At the end of the book, useful and harmful animals also illustrated with black engravings. No copy referenced with this number of pages and this title on the first cover. Very well preserved boards, some foxing affecting only the text pages.
