In-12 (17,6 x 13,2 cm). 1 frontispiece, (32) pp. 7 lithographed plates in color: publisher's glossy blue paper boards lithographed in black and gilt, children, straw bales and tools on the first plate, frames, rake, shovel and straw hat, in the center of the second, title on the spine. Eight fine colored lithographs featuring, mostly, children and animals. Different from the edition under cream cardboard bearing the title on the first plate: Alphabet in action. Each plate dedicated to three letters of the alphabet [the last four on the same] inscribed at the top and captioned with a small sentence describing the scene and using these letters. Example: A, B, C, (donkey, ox, pig), caption: Well-known Animals. Different alphabets precede progressive exercises and short readings on animals, decorated with woodcuts in the form of alphabet signed Lesestre. The engraver Jean Théophile Gustave Lesestre (1815-1873). Contemporary boards slightly rubbed on the corners and light scattered foxing.
