(16) pp. : paper covers, the first ones bearing the printed title in an ornate frame. Complete set of two first edition Dutch primers, each with seven hand-colored woodcut plates. Rare style of imagery featuring animals and skater of remarkable talent in the first volume, schoolboy, landscape, animals, of a slightly naive style, in the second. The illustrations, mostly dedicated to vowels, are preceded by a page of text where various typographies have been used. The letters of the alphabet scroll at the top of the pages, in groups of three or four, underlined by the text referring to the occurrence that does not begin with the letter but contains it, A for De Kat [The Cat] to IJ, Det Ijs [The Ice], for the first volume, A, De Wagen [The Car] to Oost- en West-Indiën, for the second. First volume well preserved, spotting, on the second, with crack on the spine.
