Small military alphabet. J. Langlumé. Rue... - Lot 85 - Ader
Small military alphabet. J. Langlumé. Rue du Foin Saint-Jacques, N° 11. Paris. [Circa 1840]. (5,5 x 5,5 cm, 5,5 x 146,5 cm unfolded). Leporello of (26) engraved plates, hand-colored by stencil: publisher's black paper boards stamped with roses, engraved and colored title applied on the first board and framed with a gilt embossed paper frieze. Beautiful and rare miniature leporello engraved in intaglio and finely colored. Only illustrated with soldiers in costumes, it is mainly related to Napoleonic history and to the different corps of the Grande Armée (except for the Zouave, which appeared in 1830). B for Bonaparte in front of the pyramids, Grenadier, Hussar, Napoleon in St. Helena. As for the W, it is Wellington who is represented, winner of the emperor at Waterloo. J. Langlumé, an intaglio printer, appeared at this address around 1837. The unusual small size of this historical testimony makes it even more precious. Minimal reinforcement on the edge of the first plate.
