In-4 oblong (21 x 26,5 cm). 4 ff., title, 32 plates: modern green cloth boards with the original light green paper cover applied to the boards, lithographed illustration enhanced in gold on the first board, second board muted. First edition. Alphabet illustrated by Auguste Belin (1821-1890), French painter and engraver, illustrator of bookstore posters for popular novels, music titles and contributor to Parisian humoristic newspapers. Plates of alphabets, vowels and syllables, Arabic and Roman numerals, texts of first readings (typography Plon Frères). With many illustrations per initial: one to three plates per letter. From Afficheur to Zenadecah. Only one copy in the heritage collection Heure Joyeuse in Paris. Pale freckles. Title applied on a strip of paper in the inner margin and placed before the plates. Restoration on the plate of X. Provenance: Paul Toinet (1893-1987), writer and collector, with his armorial bookplate.
