Very nicely and abundantly illustrated alphabet book by Gustave Staal (1817-1882), Georges Fath (1818-1900), A. Demarle, Jean-Baptiste Philippe Tremelat, etc. Alphabets, syllables are followed by an illustrated alphabet book with one letter per page, composed of a fine engraved vignette in the center, topped by the lower and upper case letter and underlined by a dozen words separated into syllables. Complete with a few pages of exercises, numerous anonymous tales and fables by Fénelon, La Fontaine and Florian, also illustrated with engravings and decorated with initials and bands. In new condition, uncut, untrimmed.
