(40) pp. and (2) red cut-out ff.: red soft cardboard covers, gilt and illustrated title on the first one, laminated paper dust jacket illustrated in continuous color on a gilt background, illustrated endpapers. First edition, in large format, of the alphabet of Tatiana Mavrina (1902-1996), enhanced with gold and silver. Student of the Vkhutins of Moscow under the direction of Lyubov Popova and Robert Falk, born Lebedeva, she will quickly use the name of her mother to sign her works. A member of the "13" group from 1929 to 1931, she continued to be influenced by the folklore of her country. Her long career as an illustrator began in 1926: she was awarded the State Prize in 1975, became an emeritus artist of the USSR in 1981 and was awarded the Andersen Prize in 1976. Forty pages of enchanting alphabet, one tale per Cyrillic letter in vivid colors. Nine of the letters are illustrated on the double page. The letter G for the story of Gusi-Lebedi [Geese and Swans], I for Ivan the Tsarevich and the Grey Wolf, K for Kolobok. Some cracks and creases on the edge of the dust jacket.
