PARAIN (Nathalie). Original gouache. The... - Lot 277 - Ader
PARAIN (Nathalie). Original gouache. The Gleaners during the harvest. [Around 1940]. Gouache on paper (16 x 22 cm). Signature stamp. Under glass, framed in blond wood. Remarkable and very rare original gouache by the Russian artist Nathalie Parain, née Tchelpanova, (1897-1958). Born in Kiev, she studied at the Stroganov Institute of Decorative and Applied Arts in Moscow with Konchalovsky, then at the Vkhoutemas with Chterenberg for painting and Favorsky for graphic arts; the most perfect training at the heart of a period of fabulous artistic exploration and explosion. In 1926, she married the Frenchman Brice Parain whom she followed to Paris. In 1944, her work was awarded the Académie des Beaux-arts prize. Summer landscape in Verdelot, a small village in the Seine-et-Marne region where her husband came from and where they had a vacation home. A finished painting in the artist's best style. Peasant and peasant women on a blond field, under a sky of stylized clouds.
