(28) pp. : strong paper covers illustrated with the photograph, a girl and a baby reading the ABC, red bands, at the head and foot, on the first one, the same ones, holding hands, in the center of the second one, metallic spiral binding. Unique edition of a most sought-after photographic alphabet. Touching black and white shots of children illustrating the letters of the alphabet. A little girl and her young brother in their daily vacation life photographed by Pierre Portelette (1890-1971). He stages his children. Arrival at the train station of La Villetertre (where Pierre Portelette lived) and life in the country: Chatting, Gathering, Breeding, Gymnastics, etc. The black and white photo is surrounded on two sides by a red or green band, with an initial at the top and a single word caption at the bottom. Two pages of alphabets on a blackboard, shown by the older child to the younger, begin the alphabet book. Refined printing by Draeger and copy in very good condition, small restored crack at the foot of the second cover.
