PAUL JOUVE (18787-1973) Tiger at Rest, ca. 1922, Artist's proof on parchment Etching on parchment; with the eagle remark. Sold under a marie-louise and with a modern frame with a large moulding in Macassar ebony veneer. Signed JOUVE and marked Épreuve d'Artiste Parchemin, in pencil, partly erased, at the bottom left under the engraved part. Work alone at sight : 31 x 38 cm - With frame : 59 x 66,5 cm History: Jouve made this etching around 1922, he will take up this composition by adding another tiger, for a portfolio that will be published in 1931. Once the print of this etching on Velin paper was completed, Jouve made three deluxe proofs of this etching on parchment, parchment offering a better rendering of the etching.
