Jug decorated with glaze drips, probably Eastern Iran, Nishapur, 10th century Small jug with baluster body topped by a cylindrical neck connected to the body by an angled handle. In clay ceramic, painted in yellow staining black and manganese brown on an orange background under a transparent glaze. Height: 15 cm Restorations to neck and handle, chips, iridescence. Shaped pieces other than cups, dishes or bowls from Nishapur's Samanid production are rare. Another pitcher from this production with a similar palette is preserved in the collections of the Rareq Rajab Museum in Kuwait (CER128TSR).
