Jug with silhouette decoration, Iran, probably Rayy, late 12th - early 13th century A jug with a globular body on a small circular pedestal, connected to a cylindrical neck by a small curved handle. In black slip siliceous ceramic with champlevé decoration of a frieze of vertical stripes on the neck, foliage scrolls on the upper part of the body and tongues on the lower part. Height: 15.5 cm Restoration work. A similar pitcher with the same decorative registers is in the Freer Gallery of Art, Washington (67.3).
