Manuscript of the Mathnawi-l Manawi by Jalal al-Din Rumî (1207-1273), Iran, late 15th century, signed Manuscript on paper, eighteen lines per page, divided into two columns encircled by a band of obliquely written text, in Persian naskhi in black ink, some terms in red ink. Manuscript in four sections introduced by a sarlow illuminated in gold and polychrome, with a few small illuminated triangles punctuating the oblique text. On the last page, colophon giving the name of the copyist 'Abd al-Khaliq ibn Shaykh [...?] Some faded stamps. Modern binding in garnet-red leather embossed with a poly-lobed medallion framed by two fleurons, all trimmed with floral motifs, the back covers covered with ebru paper.
