Poetic collection by Mirza 'Abd el-Qader Badil, Eastern Iran or Kashmir, 19th century
Manuscript on paper with nine lines of text per page in Persian nasta'liq, divided into two columns in some sections, in black ink, some characters and section titles in red or blue ink. Manuscript divided into three parts, each introduced by a double-page frontispiece illuminated in gold and polychrome, the text in reserve on a gold background and preceded by a mantling decorated with foliage scrolls. The ends of the parts are also illuminated, with a double-page band decorated with foliage surrounding the text. The first part also features an illuminated shamseh. The text includes prose, ghazal, nekat, hikayat and roba'iyat. Restored binding in mauve percaline glued with a khaki-colored leaf embossed with an appendix medallion and varnished.

Mirza 'Abd el-Qader Badil known as Badil Dehlavi (1644-1721) was a poet representative of the Indian style (sabk-e hendī) of Persian poetry. Born and died in India, he studied the legal sciences and was a follower of the Sufi method. In fact, it was a poem from Sa'adi's Golestan that inspired his pseudonym. He is the author of a poetic diwan and several prose works.
