Collection of seven knives, Central Asia, Bukhara, 19th century One long khyber or salwar yatagan dagger, and six small bishaq knives, each with a straight or slightly curved, flat-backed blade in damascus steel, set in a silver guard with niello or engraved decoration, followed by a turquoise inlaid ring and a walrus ivory handle. Blade decoration varies from piece to piece: one with silver foliage inlay, another with a heel inlaid with gold fleurons and palmettes, a third with a gold-inlaid ribboned frieze on the back, and four with a small scalloped cutout on the back. There are also variations on the handles: one with two ivory plates riveted to a nielloed silver silk, one with a metal ring and a third with an engraved and nielloed silver tip. Lengths: 37 to 20.8 cm Some wear, traces of rust on the handles, oxidation on the blades, handles occasionally cracked, minor inlay damage. Seven Knives, Central Asia, Bukhara, 19th century
