Charles LAGRANGE (1804-1857) revolutionary politician. 6 L.A.S., Antwerp then Amsterdam 1852-1855, to M. Morel in Liège, Dordrecht and The Hague; 17 pages in-8, 4 addresses. Long political letters from his exile in Belgium and the Netherlands. Antwerp December 22, 1852. He wanted to print his speech before the Chamber of Peers and the one on amnesty, to make known to Belgium: "the sentiments which have always directed the honest part of the party in its long struggle with Royalty, & by remaining a profession of faith for the future somewhat in opposition to all these contradictory manifestos, which divide opinion & make it a scarecrow for fools"... Amsterdam April 12 and June 5, 1853. He would like to add to his speeches the one on universal suffrage, even if it means making a few cuts so as not to offend Belgian sensibilities... February 6, 9 and 21, 1855, he calls Morel his "godson"; he speaks of an aborted meeting "in this country of religious freedoms, chased from our literary altar & all of free thought"; he leaves his hotel and tells of his new move in....
