Jean-Lambert TALLIEN. Autograph Apostille signed, Paris 20 p - Lot 582
Jean-Lambert TALLIEN. Autograph Apostille signed, Paris 20 pluviose XII (February 10, 1804), 11 lines in the margin of a L.A.S. from Joseph-Eugène Beauvoisins, "au Conseiller d'État Réal chargé spécialement de la sureté de l'Intérieur de la République"; 2 1/2 pages in-fol. (From the Rousselin de Saint-Albin papers).
Curious report on Cadoudal, one month before his arrest (March 9, 1804).
Beauvoisins noticed a cabriolet on Boulevard Poissonnière and recognized in it "the brigand and scoundrel Georges [...] he was dressed in a fashionable colored frock coat, wore a round hat, and had a yellow silk cravat on his collar". On the same day, he told Tallien about this encounter, but hesitated for some time before reporting it to the Secret Police...
Tallien writes: "I declare that Citoyen Beauvoisins spoke to me about eight days ago about the encounter he believed to have had with Georges in a Paris street, and that the fear alone of making a statement which he did not believe to be sufficiently authentic at the time was the only cause of his momentary silence".
