This is a study for the portrait of the Marquis de Granby listed in the catalog raisonné under no. RM956. Armand Pierhal (1897-1976), novelist, essayist, poet, journalist, art and music critic, editor, translator and adapter, must have met Blanche in 1926. He wrote the preface to the catalog of the Jacques-Émile Blanche exhibition at Galerie Jean Charpentier in 1929, as well as an article in L'Art vivant. He prepared the "Hommage à Jacques-Émile Blanche" broadcast on October 15, 1961.
