Child's saber, luxury model by Boutet, artistic director of the Manufacture de Versailles of Napoléon Soult (1802 - 1857) 2nd Duke of Dalmatia, son of the Marshal.
Ebony handle decorated with a semiset of scales (small chip). Gold-plated iron mounting, "Marengo-style" guard, double-branched guard ending in a palmette at the top. Stamped quillon. Body knot with spiderweb half-grooves.
Curved blade with flat back signed "Klingenthal" and hollow sides, engraved with foliage, foliage, trophies and allegories.
Partially gilded iron scabbard, with two bracelets decorated with latticework and flowers, signed at the top "BOUTET directeur artiste Manuf à Versailles". Melon-cut sting.
Length: 63 cm
A.B.E. (Worn gilding and original bluing, one scabbard entry trim missing). Consulate-First Empire period.
