Interior sometimes evenly browned and slightly wet, but overall in very good condition. Second edition printed in Königsberg at the expense of King Frederick William I of Prussia. The original edition, published in Frankfurt in 1700, had aroused the indignation of the Jews, who had obtained from Emperor Leopold I the seizure of the work and a ban on reprinting it. Entdecktes Judenthum ("Judaism Revealed"), published in 1700, is a veritable anti-Jewish encyclopedia. Historian Helmut Berding characterizes "Judaism Unveiled" as "a reference work on anti-Judaism in the early modern era, in which all the anti-Jewish prejudices that had existed since the Middle Ages were brought together". Historian Frank E. Manuel saw Eisenmenger's work as the birth certificate of "scientific Judeophobia". Johann Andreas Eisenmenger (1654-1704), German orientalist and professor of Semitic languages, had a decisive influence on modern anti-Semitism. Eisenmenger studied the Bible, Talmud and rabbinical writings, and met with Jewish scholars and rabbis, seeking to prove that Judaism was immoral and incited hatred towards Christians.
