Désiré-Émile INGHELBRECHT (1880-1965). Autograph manuscript, [1947]; 4 pages in-4. Recollections on Reynaldo Hahn (died January 28, 1947). Inghelbrecht recalls the last weeks of the composer, director of the Opéra since 1945, and the visits he made to him in October and November 1946 in the nursing home where he was hospitalized... He talks about his friend's physical condition, the people he met at his bedside, such as Bernard Gavoty, and their main topics of conversation: music, their youthful years, Georges Bizet, the Ballets Russes, Mendelssohn, a case concerning Albert Roussel's Padmavâti, etc. Attached is a typescript of a speech on R. Hahn delivered in Deauville after the composer's death (5 p. in-4).
