High-relief sculpture of a male head, probably... - Lot 28 - Ader
High-relief sculpture of a male head, probably from an insertion. The head, with large eyes and hemmed eyelids, rests on a broad neck. The treatment of the back suggests that this sculpture could have been inserted into another element. Marble, spalls at mouth and nose, bears a plaque on the back stating "Gallo-Roman period, Senomus necropolis excavations" (probably Senons). Gaul, Roman or earlier H. 16.8 cm Provenance : Jean Roudillon Collection
