Georges COURTELINE. 6 L.A.S., [1909]-1918, to Pierre Wolff; 8pages in-8 and a postcard (binder holes).
Friendly correspondence between the two theater men and collaborators.
On their collaboration (for La Cruche in 1909): Courteline disagrees with Wolff, and asks him to keep a passage that "adds nothing if you like, but singularly lightens the 'Je couche avec Margot' that follows, giving a joking edge to the brutality of the word [...Rehearsals will tell us who's right, you or me"... - "You have your three-act play with Porel, which guarantees your winter; I only have the two acts with Poe [Lugné-Poe], but I'm in no hurry to see them performed. The important thing is that they are good", and he won't sign anything until the play has been revised.
Regarding the plagiarism of which Wolff complains: "It's really extraordinary in its shamelessness and simplicity! All in all, I don't see much difference between this and theft. You did well to take the matter to the Commission; let's just hope Gaumont isn't the film's publisher!...
Marseille March 17, 1918, he congratulates P. Wolff, who has just been elected president; April 16, postcard from Biskra,
Attached is a L.A.S from Madame Courteline to the same.
